WINGED
KAMPFERD
On
this page, the
standard 1:35 KAMPFERD kit is extensively
modified,
from a Vertical Take-Off bike to a
STOL assault plane.
Up:
the converted model, with added wings and wheels.

| In its basic configuration, the KAMPFERD is
a VTOL flying bike vehicle. the autonomy and the pay-load capacity can
be increased
by adding wings, making the bike able of short take-off and landing.
The
wing is a Horten, wich has proved its good handling at all speeds and
save
the weight of a tail. As the «plane» is not realy
design for
speed, the wing profil is quite thick for good stall abilities and by
the
way allowed two important build-in fuel tanks. The prototype shown in
the
pictures still wear the germans WWII insigna of its very close
origins.. |

Building
the
scrach model
I
began with by drawing a fast plan to check
the positioning of a few things according to the gravity center of the
horten wing. The most difficult was to cut the resin wings (from 1/72
sharkit
Horten Völksjäger) to fit on the side nozzle of the
bike.They
are not glued and can be removed, Only the accurate fitting maintain
the
parts together.The guns, the landing gear, and the pilot feets
protection
are from the spare parts box.The pilot is a german paratrooper and had
been rework to sit correctly.I have used five minutes two components
epoxy
glue to have the time to adjust the parts. Polyester putty and acrylic
paint were the others stuffs. And no air brush, only good brushes did
the
job, with 1200 grade sanding paper...
Trois
jour seulement
ont suffit
pour modifier un kit Sharkit "standard" et obtenir le modèle
present sur les photos; J'ai commencé par un plan rapide
afin de
placer correctement les centres de gravité respectifs de
l'aile
et de la jet-bike; le plus long à été
de fraiser les
ailes en résine (issues du Sharkit Horten
Völksjäger au
1/72); il eut été beuacoup plus rapide de les
coller, mais
je les ai soigneusement ajustée pour qu'elle tiennnent sans
aucun
accessoire tel que vis ou autre ;l'avantage et qu'elle peuvent
être
enlevée en un seul "clap". Les canons, les roues et le
marche-pieds sont issus de la boite à rabiot, ainsi que les
décalques.
Le pilote est un parachutiste allemand entièrement
retravaillé
pour que les bras et les jambes s'adaptent bien à la
position de
pilotage; on peut bien sur utiliser le pilote fourni avec le kit (mais
ce n'est pas celui que je voulais dans ce cas précis). Je
rappelle
qu'il est TRÉS SOUVENT préférable
d'utiliser de colle
epoxy "cinq minutes" plutot que de la cyano, sinon vous allez
souffrir à coller/casser et puis re-coller/casser pour avoir
un
positionement digne de ce nom pour les membres du pilot; en plus vous
éviterez
de bousiller vos pièces, ce qui est
préférable. La
peinture est acrylique bas de gamme mais avec des bons pinceaux (un
PETIT
pinceau n'est pas forcement un BON pinceau) et bien sûre
poncée
vite fait entre chaque couche au 1200; on en reparlera une prochaine
fois,
en attendant amusez-vous bien... renaud
