HISTORY: The KRAB is a heavily armored powered suit designed for the surface exploration of the planet Alterra. It was designed during Alterra's mid-2nd Century when data from the Archives was still accessible. Because Alterra has some hot, volcanic areas, the KRAB's shell is made from non-conductive ceramic and its interior is equipped with an advanced cooling system. Little larger than its human occupant, the KRAB can board many vehicles, including the millipede heavy ground transporter. The machine's weight is such that it requires four to five adult men to move it when not traveling under its own power. KRAB power suits were used in the construction of Alterra's "Alpha Base," the installation that first converted the planet's geothermic energy to useable hydronium crystals. The KRAB has also been used for combat purposes in virtually all major intra-planetary conflicts. Despite its crude exterior, the KRAB is a sophisticated machine - so sophisticated that it is quite simple to operate. Its designers gave high priority to easy maintenance and performance. As long as it is not pushed beyond its intended limits, a KRAB power suit can have a lifespan of decades.

HISTOIRE: Le Krab est un exdosquelette lourd destine a l'exploration d'Alterra. Il fut concu au milieu du deuxieme siecle quand toutes les Archives etaient encore disponibles. Alterra ayant quantite de zones volcaniques brulantes, la carcasse du Krab est fazite de ceramique isolante et il est equipe d'un systeme de refroidissement perfectionne.  A peine plus large que son pilot humain, le Krab peut embarquer dans de nombreux vehicules, dont le transporteur lourd terrestre "la Chenille". Son poids est tel qu'il peut etre facilement deplacé par quatre ou cinq homme lorsque son moteur est arrete. Le Krab fut utilise dans la construction de la Base Alpha, instalation qui fut concue pour transformer l'energie geothermique en Hydronium crystalin. Des versions militarisees du  Krab furent  utilisees dans pratiquement tous les conflits. malgre son aspect rustique, Le Krab est une machine sophistiquee- aussi sophistiquee qu'elle est simple a utiliser. Ces concepteur privilegierent la facilitee d'utilisation et d'entretien. Si il n'est pas pousse au dela de ses limites normales, le Krab a une duree de vie de plusieurs decades.
